Young Musician - Opportunity to perform at a live Concert

 

We are looking for young people with musical talents to perform at a live Concert at the Assembly Rooms Derby, Sunday May 9th. 2010.

The opportunity offers young people

  • An experience of performing on a public stage
  • To showcase their musical talent
  • Impartial criticism and assessment

 

Entry Requirements

 

  1. For juniors age 17 or under as at August 31st. 2009.
  2. If you are not a resident of Amber Valley we may still be able to nominate you or we can refer you to another Rotary Club near you ,so please feel free to send us your entry.
  3. The concert is for amateurs. For the purpose of this concert, an amateur is considered to be a person whose main source of income is not made from music performances, although they may receive occasional out-of-pocket expenses or prizes.  This includes full-time students at vocational music establishments.
  4. A performance for any number of juniors up to a maximum of 4 in a Group.
  5. The performance can be vocal or instrumental.
  6. Any instrument allowed as long as played live and only one instrument per individual.
  7. Performers may choose to have an accompanist but this is restricted to one pianist.
  8. No tapes or pre recorded material are permitted.
  9. All instruments and accompanist provided by the entrants. ( there is a Steinway Gran available)
  10. Music of your own choosing but suitable for a Family audience
  11. A performance lasting up to a maximum of 7 minutes consisting of one or more pieces.
  12. Entries should be received in writing or by email on the attached form no later than February 28th. 2010. Parental agreement is essential.
  13. We may need to verify your credentials by interview and/or listening to you play. We will arrange this with you .
  14. Normally only 1 Act can be recommended for a place at the Concert and performers will be notified by March 31st. The final decision rests in the hands of the Rotary District Organisers.
  15. The person so selected will then be required to perform at Derby Assembly Rooms, Sunday May 9th. 2010 with a live audience.
